Spice Up Your Evening with a Spicy Cucumber Margarita! A recipe by Realtor, Lainie Eilenberger

Updated: Dec 8, 2023

Hey, y'all! Lainie Eilenberger here, your trusted real estate expert in Lubbock and West Texas. Today, we're taking a break from talking about dream homes to indulge in another passion of mine—mixing up some delicious cocktails. And what better way to do that than with a Spicy Cucumber Margarita?

History of the Margarita:

Before we dive into the recipe, let's toast to the history of this classic cocktail. The Margarita's origins are a bit murky, with several stories claiming to be the real deal. Whether it was created by a Mexican bartender or a socialite in Acapulco, one thing's for sure: it's a timeless favorite.

Now, let's get down to mixing!

Ingredients:

  • 2 oz Don Julio Tequila

  • 1 oz Cointreau (or any orange liqueur)

  • 1 oz fresh lime juice

  • 1 oz cucumber juice (freshly squeezed)

  • 1/2 oz agave nectar

  • 2-3 slices of jalapeño (adjust to your preferred spice level)

  • A pinch of chili powder (for that extra kick)

  • Tajín mixed with salt

  • Chamoy (for rimming the glass and extra flavor)

  • Sliced cucumber, jalapeño slices, and chili pepper (for garnish)

Directions:

  1. Start by rimming your glass with a mixture of Tajín, salt, and chamoy. Run a lime wedge around the rim, then dip it into a plate of the mixture. Set aside.

  2. In a shaker, muddle the jalapeño slices to release their spicy flavor. Be sure to adjust the number of slices based on your heat preference.

  3. Add the Don Julio Tequila, Cointreau, fresh lime juice, cucumber juice, agave nectar, and a pinch of chili powder to the shaker.

  4. Fill the shaker with ice and shake vigorously until well chilled.

  5. Strain the mixture into your Tajín, salt, and chamoy-rimmed glass filled with ice.

  6. Garnish with a slice of cucumber, a jalapeño slice, and a chili pepper for that extra spicy touch.

  7. Sip, savor, and enjoy your Spicier Cucumber Jalapeño Margarita with the delightful addition of chamoy on the rim!
